my laptop uses 256MB, 200-pin SODIMM, DDR PC3200. It seem's easier to find PC2700 on ebay I want to upgrade to 512 Can i go with a pc2700 whats the difference.

my laptop that I had for 3 years broke the other day and since I have to replace the motherboard I've told that I should just get a new laptop

I will be using my laptop mostly for school(college and beyond) and entertainment. I want a small screen, light weight ones so that i can take it to school.
My buget is $1000.
any recomendation?

My old hard drive is 80gigs.but i am trying to add a new 40gig drive to my system which is a dell,when added the system fails to booth i receive 2beeps on post and then a message saying cannot locate master/slave drive.i removed my old hard drive and tried booting with the new drive alone but i have the same problem the jumpers are set correctly on the but its still not working,my 768 memory's are seated correctly nothing is wrong with the motherboard or the cpu chip the only problem is that my system is not recognizing my new drive, however i was able to booth with both hard drives at on point but i removed it to test it and to see if there was still a problem and low and behold there was i am currently using my old hard drive but i need some information which is stored on my new drive can u plz give some advice no how to master/slave both drives so that they work .note both my dvd and my cd drives are working fine.

I have a Compaq Presario v2000 (before anyone apologizes...I know...it's been a bad laptop). On the left side, where the card slot is, to the right of the slot (when the side is facing you), there is a small oval hole with a picture of a lock, and on the lock is a "K." Anyone know what this is? I've had the laptop over a year and JUST now noticed this.

thats totally amazin, i have to finish 3 crossword, a formal letter, and a brochure for nex thusday for the computer class, and each of the is one note, and now it comes that the adapter dosnt work and i cant use the comp. with no energy because its a laptop, so, do you have any idea of how much does it cost to buy a new one?

i just got a used pc from a friend it has a dvd rom in it from creative. when i got it i installed my hard drive and reloaded xp now windows media says i dont have the codecs to read the disk any help on finding a free program?

i have a dell computer with a 80 gig hard drive i am now trying to add a 40 gig drive however my computer is not boothing i have 2 short beeps on system post but it failed to booth as per normal now my com has 768 ddr memory and a dvd along with a cd drive i made sure tht the master slave is set correctly but its still tripping i tried it a couple of times and it worked i was able to booth my pc and view all the drives in my computer including my new hard drive i dissconnected it to check it again but now the system is tripping again same 2 beeps and cannot locate master slave drive can some one give me some advice plz .

I am student, will be going to oversea(so international warranty is a must), use the laptop for assignment and entertainment(music, movie and some games like age of empires), the laptop must last more than 3 years. Have slighly nice look.

Currently i hv a choice between:
- toshiba m100-1511E (Duo core 1.66, 512 MB, 128 MB intel extreme graphic),
- Compaq3108(intel duo core 1.73, 512MB, Intel GMA 950 up to 128MB) or
- compaq 3133(AMD turion 64X2 TL-52 1.6, 512 MB, NVIDIA Geforce 6150 up to 256MB)

So which is best for me? Or you have other recommendation?

This does not happen with all videos just with some. Sometimes i see the dots on my desk top, some times i dont. When i play video games there are sometimes annoying trails on things. Is this the monitor or video card. My monitor is a Gateway EV700 and my video card is a NVIDIA GEFORCE 5200. Im not sure where the problem is coming from.

I'm going to choose this pc for my usage on multitasking,gaming and surfing internet.

Isit it true that AMD will get heated up very fast.I've had already made some research and people telling me that AMD will only get heated up if we overclocked it.I wouldn't be overclocking it.I heard that pentium D is having some problem.SO most of them said don't choose Pentium D.I'm not deciding to take core 2 duo because its very expensive.plz give me a best solution whether the configuration I gave is suitable and an good opinion too so that I can make a last decision that wouldn't be wrong.

alright, so i have a just-over 1-year-old computer which is running an AMD Sempron 3100+ processor which clocks at just over 1.8 Ghz. i was just wondering how much longer i can expect to be able to keep up with somewhat above-average multimedia computing. right now i am actually video and audio editing on it. x] i know, right? serious video and audio editing on a sempron? haha, but i'm something called a student. therefore, student=poor. (actually, the computer was a gift last christmas & i'm very greatful)

the thing is, i am going to college in a year and was planning on buying a laptop. i am wondering: 1... if the computer i have now will do me well for the next few years (in which case i won't be so picky about the laptop's power) and 2... whether or not a laptop with a less-than-2 Ghz processor would be sufficient for my needs. there is actually a used laptop for $300 with nice specs, but it is 1.4 Ghz (if i want to just buy it now, is that acceptable?)

I've nearly run out of space on my primary drive; only a couple of gb left out of 160gb. Any ideas on what to upgrade to and how to install the new drive? I'm thinking 320-400gb SATA. I would strongly prefer to clone my boot drive. Any ideas on the best way to do that?
