I have a DVD from a photographer with 500 pictures on it. It's on a DVD-R disk. My computer will not open it. Am I doing something wrong? I have plenty of disk space available. Please help.

Does your computer have a DVD player? Or is it just a standard CD-ROM drive. If its not DVD player you will not be able to open a DVD-R disk.

Not trying to sound condesending, but I always try to start with the obvious first. :D

make sure your computer can play dvds first. As far as inserting a disk goes, the shiny, silvery side should always be face down, since that's the data side.

No, actually, you probably aren't. It is that the drive you are trying to read it in does not support -R. It is probably only +R. There is no way to win that one except have the originator remake in on a +R drive.
