Its the new operating system from windows which is set to replace Windows XP. It seems very big because Microsoft markets it very big lol. No need to upgrade it yet. Wait til they get rid of all the bugs and make sure your hardware can handle it.

Another scheme by Microsoft ot extort money from people who feel they must have the latest thing. It also helps the hardware people who were in a slump, as this hog of an OS needs all kinds of power just to get out of its own way.
If you must get it, wait until at least Service Pack 2. You don't want to pay for a Beta release.

It is an operating system. It is the replacement OS for Microsoft Windows XP. The operating system is what manages all of the programs and devices on your computer. Without it, you wouldn't be able to DO anything.
