Is there a difference between the Macbook and the IMac ?

The Macbook is laptop and the iMac is a desktop. You'll get a more bang for the buck with an iMac, but loose the portability of a laptop.

Go w/ a macbook, the laptop because they hav portability and you can always just connect it to a keyboard, mouse and monitor
