I have a Dell Demension E510 Pentium 4 3.0 GHZ processor nVidia 7800 512 MB DDR, and 1GB of RAM. With those specs can i upgrade my Graphics card to a nVidia 8800 GTX/GTS graphics card, not a dual core one?

The bigger question is whether or not the card will fit into your case and whether or not your power supply will handle it.

The 8800 series cards are probably the longest graphics cards ever made. Try and get the dimensions of the card you want to buy and see how much room you have in your case.

They list cases that fit the card - compare your case to one of them.

The GTS is a little smaller than the GTX and draws less power which might suit your better.

First off, you need to check the wattage of your computer's power supply since the 8800 cards require at least 450 watts to run adequately. The 7800 is a fine card and should last you a good 2 to 3 more years before needing to upgrade. The benefit of the 8800 cards are that they are DirectX 10 compliant, which in the next couple years be important for Windows Vista gaming.

I would say yes you can. however the orginal specs of the poewr supply taken from dell website from the tech manual is as states:

----
Power DC power supply:

Wattage 305 W

Voltage (see the safety instructions in the Product Information Guide for important voltage setting information)
90 to 135 V and 180 to 265 V at 50/60 Hz
-----

however you have a video card that must take a 350 watt PS and you would need a 450 watt Power supply to run the video card you want. I would first chech to see how must watts I have if I can run the new card Then make sure it fits. I would assume it would.

Uhh.. Do you have PCI Express 16x? I'm saying yes, because I don't think they made 7800s in AGP. If you have PCI Express then yes, you can buy an 8800 card. Check your manual or online to see if you have PCI Express or AGP.

yes you can upgrade your video card, but is there really a reason? the 7800 with 512 mb is a pretty nice card that shouldnt have any problems with any games or video software.

Yes. However, I don't know squat about NVidia stuff.
