I'm going to choose this pc for my usage on multitasking, gaming and surfing internet.

AMD3600+ 64x2
Gigabyte GA-M55 SLI-S4
Cosair 1 GB 667 ddr2 ram
Hitachi 80GB SATA HDD
Gigabyte 7300 GT 256 mb graphic card
Kingstor ATX casing
400W Power supply

Isit it true that AMD will get heated up very fast.I've had already made some research and people telling me that AMD will only get heated up if we overclocked it.I wouldn't be overclocking it.I heard that pentium D is having some problem.SO most of them said don't choose Pentium D.I'm not deciding to take core 2 duo because its very expensive.plz give me a best solution whether the configuration I gave is suitable and an good opinion too so that I can make a last decision that wouldn't be wrong.

The heating issue was with the Xp cpus, just needed a good heatsink, still produced less heat then an intel. Today only the core 2 runs close to the same temp (according to idle or full load). If you do not have a high end monitor, a NON-sli would be fine and save you some money. video card is NOT a gaming card. need something a little better at least. powersupply needs to be a little better 450watt for NON-sli (crosswire) 650+ if sli or crossfire being used. goto www.tomshardware.com for benchmarks and guides.

the memory seems ok. upgrading to a x2 3800+ is probably a good idea. it performs somewhat better and doesn't cost that much more. what kind of games do you play? your 7300gt should be perfectly fine for older/casual games, but for graphically demanding games (mostly FPS games) you might want to upgrade. upgrading your power supply may be a good idea. 700-800 watts is probably overkill, unless you do a high-end sli setup. is there some reason why you have an sli board? sli is really not very useful except at the high end. my source on that is listed below. a larger hard drive is probably a good idea. I've personally seen what games can do to your free disk space. Unless you overclock or the cpu fan dies, there is no reason why your processor will experience overheating problems.

Use higher wattage power supply, ex 700-800W will be enough.
For gaming purposes, use higher memory video card. I reccomend 512mb and PCI Express type video card.
