It's pretty simple. Make sure the laptop is plugged in, then if there is an Fn key on your laptop (located between to Ctrl and the Windows key) hold that down while pressing the arrow key up. This should brighten your screen. If this does not work or you don't have the Fn key on your laptop then you need to find out how exactly your laptop handles power schemes and your screen brightness. Since I am not fimilar with your laptop's settings I have provided you with the user support link for Toshiba computers. Hope this helps.

this can be hardware related (your laptop screen is going bad) or software related. on you keyboard, you should have several buttons with blue pictures/texts on them. look for one that looks like a lightbulb. hold on to the FN button and press either of the lightbulb buttons (you should have two). one should brighten, one should darken.

If you can't get it to go brighter than what it did before, the bulbs inside are probably worn out. this is common on LCD panels, especially on older models.

You should look for two keys (on the keyboard) that have an emblem (often blue) of a sun with an arrow. Hold the down the function key (Fn) and press the key with up emblem on it.

Ok. Here is the deal. Shut down and unplug the power. Next take out the battery. Now, reinstall the battery and replug the power. Reboot. I think that'll do it.

check ur power managment software for brightness of the screen .. also ur display properties should have an adjustment for brightness .. if everything is maxed already and nothing seems to work then its probably the backlight or the little controller that goes with it that went bad ...
