I had to restore my PC (an HP pavillion). It said that any data files that I created (not sure what these are) would still be intact, but anything I installed into my PC, even updates, would be lost. Well, all of my "data" files are gone, but some programs that I installed were still there. Someone told me that there was a chance that all of my photos were still on my hard drive. If so, how do I try to retrieve them?

I need help, im planning on getting a pc soon but im confuse as to which of these are better for hard drive, and im a big gamer, music, pics and just everything fan so which do you guys think its better for not having a super fast pc but not slow either, im looking for lots of space and quick pace for high games, graphics, movies and music, so what’s better?

I am getting a new laptop and have a choice of 14in and 15in ( the 15 has a core duo(32bit), while the 14 has a core2duo(64bit) both same price).
Can anyone tell me if the 14in is a big chage from the 15 ( i have a 15 at the moment). Will i miss the extra inch, or will i get over it in a few min? Any opinions?

i have an hp photosmart thing for pictures that i just got for christmas, i havent used it in like 3 weeks and i just tried to print something this afternoon and the ink was all messed up so i just refilled it before but i decided to fill it up again. when i put it back in it wouldnt take paper and i finally got it to do that but the ink was messed up again???? the pictures come out all green with a scaly look i guess you could say its just like the ink is spilled on there cuz its so thick...what did i do and what can i do to fix it????? ive tried tons and tons of test pages and cleaning the cartridge and aligning and its still doing it. HELP!!!!!!

I have a 7600GS PCIE and Im going to buy another one to put it in SLI, but I don't have enough money to buy the 7900GT Ive always wanted. I wanted to know should I go for it or should I save up for the single card 7900GT? What also made me ask this question was that two cards in SLI doesn't improve performance at all, it's just the same thing.

It seems like I'm going through mouses every four months or so. I follow the directions for care and use of the mouse, but still they seem to last only a few months. Usually I dish out $40 each time...should I be spending more?? I keep getting a message that says the USB device you have connected has malfunctioned ....ANd I tried plugging into all the usb ports on my laptop.. The problem is not with my USB ports because I can plug in anything else and it works fine. So I guess there is nothing I can do to fix it?? I wonder if the manufacturer will give me my money back.

I wanted to get a new desk top but im in a tangle. I wanted to customize one but i cant decide weather or not to choose a dell or HP. Dell is cheaper to customize and in cheaper in general but i dont know how the quality is. I have an HP right now and love it. My computer keeps freezing up. It only seems to do it while I'm surfing the internet, and it doesn't matter what site I'm on. Right before it freezes, it will always make the sound like plugging or unplugging something from the USB port 3 or 4 times. After that, the computer comes to almost a complete standstill. If I'm able to get into the Task Manage and over to the performance tab, the CPU usage will be stuck at 100%. What is causing my computer to do this? Does it mean that:
A)I have a virus or spyware?
B)I am being hacked?
C)Something on my computer is going out?
D)Other?

I have a Kingston DataTraveler 2.0. As my motherboard's USB slots were USB were 1.1, and I was transferring large files, I decided to get a 4 - port USB PCI card (The card has a VIA Chipset)

It works, but the BIG problem is that I cannot use USB 2.0 as I still get the messages saying that insert device into USB 2 Port, which it is! The weirder thing is when I click to find out what ports are hi-speed, USB Root Hub, with 4 ports are highlighted in bold.

Also, when I go into Device Manager, there are 5 USB Root Hubs (2 are on my motherboard anyway), but I cannot understand where the other 3 came from (they are on that PCI card, as if I disable it, they go).

The drivers on the CD were useless, same outcome as the XP drivers. Help me please!

Using a motherboard from 2000 (Via Chipset), with AMD Athlon 800, 512MB RAM, 40GB HDD, with a wireless PCI card as well.

2 Verizon Techs have told me that Verizon DSL will not work with the Vista O/S at this time. My Vz DSL has worked fine for 2 years on my XP. I just purchased a notebook with Vista and the dsl software won't load.
Is anyone else affected by this. Does anyone have Verizon dsl and Vista (premium) working? Thanks

K so I have 2 computers, the one I'm using right now has ATI Radeon XPRESS 200 and the other computer has nVIDIA GeForce 6100, I'm planing to sell my other computer but I want to change the video card before selling it. My computer is an eMachine (T6410 )with 1.37GB of RAM, how can I check if nVIDIA GeForce 6100 will work on my computer properly and how can I install it?

I guess I'm asking if I can add a new, bigger and faster Sata drive, plug it into the MB and then just copy drive C to it. If that works I should then be able to take out the old drive ( wich is slowing in rpms ) . Sound like a plan or am I missing something?
