You should choose one that fit your budget. Dell pcs, generally, are very reliable. Myself, i prefer Dell over HP since i don't need the LighScribe dvd-rom and Dell pcs perform better than the HP. You can choose HP if you are more comfortable with HP. There's not that big of a difference. Dell also has better LCDs in case you want to get one with the new pc.

Dont kid yourself on the Dell is cheaper! Dell has poor support, A good many of the parts cant be replaced by aftermarket hardware! For the general public, I would go with HP all the way! I repair PCs and find that HP has about the esiest recovery option of them all!

HP has a lot of "extras" on their PCs. If you are wanting to integrate TV for the Tivo like experience, I would go with HP for high end multimedia stuff.
Other than that... Dell is a good solid choice. Not much fluff and good performance.

decision a million. improve again up your difficult force onto a exterior one and then delete everyting you do not decide on. Defrag the disk and ensure you've a minimum of better than 0.5 of the dimensions of the HD as loose area. improve memory to 2GB improve difficult force if decrease than 80GB and also you opt on better. improve processor once you've a sluggish one. decision 2. purchase a clean ONE purely get a clean effective workstation for £500.
