It seems like I'm going through mouses every four months or so. I follow the directions for care and use of the mouse, but still they seem to last only a few months. Usually I dish out $40 each time...should I be spending more?? I keep getting a message that says the USB device you have connected has malfunctioned ....ANd I tried plugging into all the usb ports on my laptop.. The problem is not with my USB ports because I can plug in anything else and it works fine. So I guess there is nothing I can do to fix it?? I wonder if the manufacturer will give me my money back.

Either you are bangin the bejeesus outta them, or you are constantly plugging and unplugging the mouse and that creates wear on the connector.

you should try a different kind. i have a microsoft wireless optical mouse (it was about $30) and have had the same one for about 3 years now. the only "problem" i've had is the batteries dying because i used to leave my computer on all the time, which in turn lef tthe mouse on all the time. regardless, batteries are a lot cheaper to replace than the whole mouse.

it could be your USB port that is the problem. I have had mice that last for 2 + years and usually fail from the laser going bad

yeah, I have the same problem too. Labtop mice seem to run out a lot faster than my desktop ones.
