It's either a bad disc, dirty lens in the cd-rom or you are having Drive controller issues.

Try different discs, if it is still reading slow, get a cd-rom cleaner. They run for probably 10 bucks at any electronics store.

If you still have problems, then you need to get someone experienced to look at it.
