I just bought a desktop from Future Shop. Its graphic card is ATI Radeon Xpress 200 which supports dual output. Here comes the problem.

I tried to output the video from computer to my TV. I connect the TV and computer (the cable is ok), but there is no image on TV. I went to the display setting and tried to enable the secondary display. I checked the box and hit apply. The screen flashed once and the box became unchecked. It looks like the enable function is locked.

Also, I pulled out the primary monitor from the computer and had the computer to locate the output device. At beginning, the TV showed some starting image, such as Compaq logo, and then became blank after 3 seconds. I think this means the cable setting is right.

Any one knows how to solve it?

Correction:
I checked the box for "extending desktop to this monitor" and the screen flashed and the box becaome unchecked.

It seems the function is blocked.

And I clicked the 2nd monitor under setting in display property, it asked me to enable the 2nd monitor. I said yes but it did not work. It just kept asking me the same question.

goto the radeon web site and re install the drivers and settings program. it really sounds like that's the problem. you should be able to hook into the 2nd monitor and it come on without have the first one on. i have the 9200 and can do 3 types of monitors at one time. if can boot the system up using only my big screen tv by itself when i want. this is why i think it's you drivers and setting program..

Compaqs have many problems. Probably the worst computer around. THAT may be your problem.
