Yes,System Restore will let you go back a few days. Other than installing Anti-Virus Programs, Firewalls, and Anti-Spyware Programs Windows comes with everything you need already installed.

Installing third party software to repair your programs and registry often creates more problems than it fixes. These programs pray on people that lack computer expertise and pray on their fear. The best advice anyone can give you is if you don't know what it is leave it alone. Don't go poking around in your computer if you don't know what you are doing. If you did know what you are doing you wouldn't need a program to fix problems you could fix yourself. You wouldn't trust just anyone under the hood of your car, so why would you take that risk with your PC. One small, seemingly insignificant change can have a major impact on your PC.

For pc check program you can go to the norton website "www.symantec.com" and they have a pc check program for virus and more importantly vulnerability of your pc.

Otherwise windows has the capability of check and repair in accesories or even on their website.

RESTORE is like a time machine. You go back before the problem started.

RECOVERY - is when your system recovers back to factory settings.

I use pcpitstop.com program optimize. It checks and repairs and it is a one time charge on it. I have had it for 4 years now and NO ANNUAL renewals on it.

Go to pcworld.com and cnet.com for further advice and downloads of these kinds of programs.
