I have an HP PSC 1610 All-In-One and an HP laptop. I have downloaded the software from the HP website but it doesn't have the scan button on it. And I'm not sure if it's correctly installed. Can someone try to give me instructions for this?

I can't be certain, but I think I ran into this problem with a client about a month ago. If it's the same issue, it may be the result of IE7 and the HP software not working together.

Are you talking about the HP utility that allows you to select Scan, Copy, Print, etc. from a panel on your Windows desktop? If so, that's the same issue. As far as I know, there is no fix, however, if you just hit the Scan button on the machine itself, it will launch the rest of the HP scanning software and everything else will be the same. (Basically hit the physical button on the machine instead of the virtual button you used to have - the rest is the same).

In case you need it, here is the page for the most recent drivers:

you will have the installer cd that came along with the scanner. I am not sure why you had to d/load the s/w from the net. anyway, when you insert the installer cd into the cd drive it will auto play and should give you the option for installing the new hardware. then simply follow the custom installation.
One more thing try to add the new scanner from the control panel in your start button. you will find an option to add scanners and cameras. it is wizard that you have to follow.
