My whole house in on a wireless network because we don't want to have to run cables across every room and down the hallway.

My computer is around a corner, down the hall, and around another corner and my connection sucks. Is there a way to get a better connection without spending 60 bucks on a different router?

Hello, Last night i was given a crossover cable, and want to use it to transfer some videos, and music to my laptop from my desktop. Both computers have Windows XP, and ethernet jacks. I just need to know what to do to directly connect them so that file transfering is possible. Try and be as specific as possible. Thanks so much, Brodster

cant connect while inside house. can connect while outside.
Seems to be no signal detected inside. With the booster does the radiation beam from antenna become narrow and harder to align up. signal is also to be picked up by range extender inside to reach the wireless printer in office. Booster is 500mw netcomm. AP = netgear 54Mbps. Range extender is D-link with a 5db antenna. Belkin Wireless modem router for modem and router but wireless is disabled. distance from grid antenna is only about 15m approx. Only 1m approximately all up is from ap to antenna.

I have a desktop and another desktop and they are right near each other. Both have internel modems, and I want to be able to use the internet on both, at the same time. I own enough cords to plus into the wall, but I only own one phone line. I know this will make browsing, and everything else really slow, but I don't care. PLEASE help me! :) (I want DSL but my mom won't get it)

I have a desktop computer (Windows XP), using a PCMCIA card (Sierra AirCard 875) to connect to the internet through Cingular. I want to connect a Linksys wireless router (Wireless-G 2.4 GHz) to the desktop, so I can also access the internet from my other computer (which will have a LInksys wireless adapter). How do I configure the desktop and router so I can have wireless on my laptop?

I have a desktop that is mapped to a shared folder on a fileserver. When i restart my windows 2003 computer and login in, the desktop is not available until after about a min or so. There is no network avaiable during this time also. I am connected thru a CAT 6 - 1 GB connection to the file server thru a switch. I have tried both DHCP and static address, but the network always starts very late. How can i fix that.

I have a Netgear Router (Model: RP614v2). We bought it back in 2003. Recently our ISP boosted our speed. When i have the modem connected directly to my laptop i get 10Mb/s. When i have the modem connected to the router which is connected to two other computers, we get around 5Mb/s. I know that 3 computers connected to the router can slow the speed, but even if the other two computer are shut down, i still only get 5 Mb/s. From what i have read, routers should only slow the speed by a few milliseconds, not 5Mb/s. I have also read that there are "b", "g", and "n" routers and that each one can handle a different internet speed. Should a router reduce a 10Mb/s line to a 5Mb/s line? How do you know what type of router you have (b, g, or n) and what its db limit is?

I'm interested in buying the LF-B20 (Location Free Basestation 20) I don't want to buy it for the media aspect. I want it for connecting to the "Location Free" internet. I assume they mean to imply your no longer limited to where you can access the internet. HOW FREE? Don't talk about the environmental physical errors just the potential.

Please tell me the mechanism that virtual circute switches might use so that if one switch losses all its state regarding connection, then a sender of packets along a path through that switch is informed of the failure.
Thanks
