if i get a Linksys WRT54G Wireless-G Broadband Router for my computer and modem does my computer have to be wireless or does the ethernet cable still go in the back of my pc?

No, your computer does not have to be wireless. The WRT54G has 4 Ethernet ports on the back and your computer can plug into any of them. Of course, your computer will have to be close enough that you can actually plug the cable in.

you can use either. I would only use a wireless connection to computers that are not accessible via Ethernet cable. the performance between wired and wireless isn't even comparable...
