I have a desktop that is mapped to a shared folder on a fileserver. When i restart my windows 2003 computer and login in, the desktop is not available until after about a min or so. There is no network avaiable during this time also. I am connected thru a CAT 6 - 1 GB connection to the file server thru a switch. I have tried both DHCP and static address, but the network always starts very late. How can i fix that.

to speed up the boot process I would not have the mapped drive reconnected at login.

you can run a simple script to connect to the share once the PC has booted up.

shot me an email if you want an example of how to do this..
