My whole house in on a wireless network because we don't want to have to run cables across every room and down the hallway.

My computer is around a corner, down the hall, and around another corner and my connection sucks. Is there a way to get a better connection without spending 60 bucks on a different router?

They make a high gain antenna kit, but it costs $50.
I have a wireless router at each end of my house and it works pretty well.
Sometimes changing the position of the antenna on the router helps (like turning the rabbit ears on a TV).
Depending on what wireless tranciever you have on your PC, the ones with an antenna sometimes work better, but the USB ones can be placed in different positions to see what position gives the best reception.

another solution would be to buy a wireless range extender that acts like a repeater for your router. If you are on the end of your routers range this would effectively give your signal a boost near your computer.

There are 3 issues that you may do to advance your on the spot signal: (a million) replace the classic antennae that replaced into presented and replace it with higher db-income antennae, (2) adjust/flow the area of your on the spot router to a extra optimal area or (3) deploy a on the spot repeater so as that it may relay the signal, increasing the range. (a million) the antennae that comes put in with the router are first rate yet in case you want to change it with higher db-income antennae, the signal will be dramatically higher and the range prolonged. (2) in simple terms replacing the area moderate could also strengthen your signal skill. position the router in places the position there are lots of less obstructions and progression body between you and the router. (3) setting up a repeater will strengthen the effective kind of the signal by technique of in simple terms taking the signal it receives (from router or from pc) and rebroadcasts the signal to its vacation spot.
