I'm looking for a reasonably Access Point Router. What type should I get? It needs to be 802.11g, and I currently have linksys but I think its trash.

For example I have a linksys router and adapter, but I want to get a new router. So would my adapter work if I bought a D-Link router? Would they work together?

Hi,

Usually I'm pretty confident with IT... not with wireless routers though. I have a Belkin Wireless G Router with Modem.

To set it up you
1) Plug in the Ethernet cord from the Belkin to your pc... it all lights up like a Xmas tree. Check.
2) Plug in the phone line to the Belkin. Cool, more lights. Check.
3) Type in 192.168.2.1 into the address bar of Internet explorer.

Errrr... I'm then asked by IE how I'd like to connect to the internet. What the? I'm SETTING up the modem!! I assume its still trying to connect with my old modem?

If I disconnect the Belkin and connect to the internet with my previoud BT Modem, then I can go to 192.168 etc fine. But that's not really any use is it.

What do I do? This is supposed to be easy!!

Thanks

I connect with a VPN. I tried to setup terminal services on my PC, which I had at one time, Now when I try to open the program to setup Terminal Services, it gives me the above error which I can only click on "Exit" or "Uninstall". Uninstall seems to do nothing and I cannot find it in add/remove programs. Can someone please help me with this?

Hi I have an odd wireless network Problem.
I have an orange wireless router (Live box) this is connected to the internet and working OK, I have 2 PC’s working fine (Both wireless)

I have tried to set up a third machine also wireless, but I have a problem, this machine has a wireless card installed and the card is fine, but however when I try to connect to the wireless network WPA PSK Secured - it attempts to connect, but doesn’t ask for PSK ? and fails to connect. I have tried a different Wireless card (Same Result) and also tried setting it up manually by entering the SSID Name & Pre – shared key – again no luck ? This is a bog standard XP Home installation No other programs installed No Norton/Mcaffe/Virus stuff on it. I have disabled Windows firewall (The only firewall on it) Again same results, I have tried to use the Wireless card utility , and let windows control the network
I am now scratching My Head as I have been in to PC’s for 20 Years and thought I knew my stuff.

I recently switched from cable internet to DSL ( DSL is better) When I had cable however when I lost power the router didn't need to be reprogramed. Now have the router set up for the new IP and everytime the power goes off I have to set it up all over again. Without being too model specfic does anyone know why that would happen? It is a Linksys router. What can I do to fix this problem?

(I don't think these older computers have a PCI card.) Or can I run a cable from one computer to the other and then both would have the internet? I understand that would be a different type of cable. Anyway, how to use two with just one cable connection. Or can I use a splitter on the cable itself, then run a cable from the splitter to each computer?

You focus on these screens and then look away and see an image or sillowette. Somebody sent me one that was so incredible. You stared at it and then looked away and saw the face of Jesus. I deleted it by mistake. Can someone first answer the question and then send that what ever they're called to me please?
