If you are using Wireless Access Point (WAP), then set your WAP nonbroadcaset with encryption key (64bit+ recommend).

Remember to setup a password on your WAP. Most of people forgot to protect their WAP administration page.

Forgot to say that the most secure way to protect your wireless connection is to add your MAC Address (the network card address) to your WAP setting. So your computer is the only one in the entire world can use your wireless connection.

Well if your wireless router has 128 bit WEP encryption (which most routers have) then you can set a password for your router to keep other people from using your internet. The router should've come with a setup cd so it could guide you through. If your router is unsecure, then you should get a new one.

I assume you are using a wireless router. If so, you can go into the router's settings. You do this by typing the router's IP address in your browser. It should tell you in the instructions what the default ip address is. There, you can set up a password to keep unwanted users from using your connection.

If you're using a wireless router you can encrypt your network using a firewall and WPA which is built in to your router or instance I am using a Linksys wireless router with a four port hub built-in and no one can steal my wireless service

Turn off SSID broadcasting and change the SSID. Then encrypt it with 128 bit WEP.

But if it's telling you one IP, isn't that you?
If you aren't using wireless at all, just disable it.

Set up WEP WAP encryption on your network, either call road runner or refer to the information they gave you when they set it up

Turn on encryption on the router, WPA2 or WPA if both the router and your computer support it.
