Ok, this is a term I found when I was looking for IP cloaking, I don't want to download anything from anywhere. I heard maybe I can do it myself, I am running off of Win98 through a home network.

I have a Thomson ADSL modem (USB connection). I got a Linksys wrt54gs wireless router and I want to share my internet connection with another PC in the house. Trouble is the router only has lan ports on it so I cant connect the ADSL modem to it. Is there a way around this?

I am going to be buying a "Uniden 2.4GHz Digital Expandable Phone Combo" very soon and I know that in the not so distant future I will be switching to a wireless network in the house. I am worried that there will be a large amount of interference? I know I will be using a linksys router, most likely a "RT54GL IEEE 802.3/3u, IEEE 802.11b/g Wireless-G Broadband Router". Will these two be compatible?

What is the purpouse of a firewall on a router? I was thinking in the cotext of both my wireless router at home and the large box I see at work.

I know that its ont the same as having a specialist application, but does it actually block any ports that could compromise your computer? Or is it just to proect the router istelf?

My theory is that it is to prevent unautorised access to your network (like encryption) but if that is the case what it the point of having it on a wired router?

I sent my laptop to a shop to have the hard drive changed. When I got it back, not only would that laptop connect to my wireless network, all of the other laptops that we use in our house would get the error "There is an IP address conflict with another system on the network." The technician told me that this is likely because she changed the IP address when she was installing the new harad drive, or transferring data... So, based on what I've read while surfing today, I think I need to change the IP address. But I also understand that I don't want to do this if my IP address is static. I really don't want to have this tech come back, as she has already balled up so many other things (laptop returned w/ key missing from keyboard, and screw missing from hard drive cover. Job supposed to take a few hours, instead took four days, and it goes on). Many thanks.

I have looked everywhere and I can not find the basic products you need to connect two computers to the same internet. I don't know if you need a router, network adapter, and/or hub. Which ones do I need? Thank you for your help, I greatly appreciate it.

I recently bought a compaq v2000 and i have been tryin to establish if i need one of those wireless card deals..... this is what the computer says Its modem and Ethernet are augmented by an Intel PRO/Wireless 2200 802.11b/g Wi-Fi radio, which has a lengthy range of 110 feet, but eats up about 20 minutes of battery life. OK i am at work and tryin to connect to the wireless and not having any luck. I think that i also need one of those wireless cards but i cant figure it out!! I know that the wireless is working here so thats not a issue.

If someone couple tell me what i need to do... i have followed all the directions..... also when i go to connections... it gives me my connections... but none of them say internal just wireless network 2 and things like that... thanks to anyone that can help and i hope that i have not been to confusing

I have a Netgear WGR614 wireless router that all the computers in my home connect to. How do I put a password on my router so that unauthorized computers can't get access to my internet connection? P.S. I use Apple computers if that makes a difference.
