Best and easiest way is to get a router and attach it to your modem (if you have either a DSL or Cable modem). I would get a wireless router. Even if you don't decide to go wireless right now, you may in the future, and a wireless router still has ports on it to connect network cables. The first link below has selection of wireless routers from Best Buy, to give you an idea as to price.
Then each computer needs a device to connect to the router called a network adaptor, either wired or wireless. A wireless adaptor is best if one or both of the computers may be located at a distance from the router. Most newer computers will already come with a network adaptor, either wired or wireless. Look for a port (jack) that looks like it will accept a phone cord plug, only bigger. That would be for a wired adaptor, where you would plug in a network cable that connects to the router. You didn't say if you're trying to connect laptops or desktops, but the second link below shows a selection of wireless cards for laptops/notebooks and the third link a selection of network adaptors for desktops.
That's pretty much it. It's not terribly complicated. The instructions and software that come with the router & adaptors should get you connected. If you run into any problems, don't hesitate to e-mail.

The easiest way would be to get a wireless router and get a wireless card for the other computer to receive the wireless connection. The next option would be to get a router and hard wire the broadband connection from the modem to the other computer via ethernet cables.

depends if you have dial up or broadband. For dial up you will need a hub to connect more than one. For broadband, you need to get a modem, usually supplied by the ISP, then a router, I would go with a wireless g or Pre-N, then a wireless card or some type of network adapter. Good luck.

If you have DSL or a cablemodem, buy a 4 port linksys router. This will be both your router and your switch. The connection goes from the DSL/Cablemodem to the WAN port on the router. Your PCs connect to any 2 of the other 4 ports. Good Luck.

You need a wireless network. Look at a product called D-link. One part goes on your base computer and another installs in teh other computer- or can be connected via USB.
Go to Best Buy and tell them what you want to do. They will get you going.

The best way is to use a router! You will also need to find out if the PCs have network interface cards in them. If not, you will need them too. You have options in your choice of routers also. Wired or wireless. Wired is more secure but wireless gives you freedom of movement.
