I have a Netgear WGR614 wireless router that all the computers in my home connect to. How do I put a password on my router so that unauthorized computers can't get access to my internet connection? P.S. I use Apple computers if that makes a difference.

In Safari, or whatever internet browser you use, and type in 192.168.1.1 as the URL. It should ask you for a user name and password and unless you set one already, you could either press Enter or type in admin/admin as username/password. Or look in your instruction manual. Then, once you're in, you should look in the Wireless Security section and it should say Enable or Disable security. When you Enable it, you should be given the options of using WEP or WPA or WPA2. WPA 2 is more advanced than WPA, which is more advanced than WEP, but it doesn't matter that much. Enter a password and save the changes. Next time wireless internet users try to log onto your router, they need to type in that password.

Its going to be somewhat demanding as i dont recognize what type of router you've. you may tell by technique of searching on the decrease back or bottom of the router and it will be like WRT or some thing like that So form the numbers Larry stated, and for the username and password it will be admin/admin if no longer admin/1234 bypass to on the spot And the settings should be correct there you need to be able to verify on the settings.
