NO spam, if they're a friend. Spam carries viruses, and is just a pain in the posterior, to be blunt. If you're talking to one friend about a mutual friend, then some personal info is okay - my friend and I do that when we're trying to meet each other's friends. But if you're talking to someone you don't really know, or that friend doesn't know, respect your friend's privacy and don't give out too much. Gender's fine, and maybe age and first name, but never more than that. Only if you know the person you're talking to very well. Better to be safe than sorry.

Hmm...I can't think of much more, to be honest. Just try to think what you wouldn't want in an email, or what you wouldn't want people to say about you in one, and that usually serves as a good guide. I think it already counts for a lot that you're asking this question - it speaks of some consideration you have for others.

your best bet when sending email to groups of people who may not know one another is to put all the addresses in the BCC (blind carbon copy) field. everyone gets the message, no-one knows that anyone else got a copy, nobody sees anyone else's address. if your email program insists someone's address goes in the TO field, use your own. be sure to strip out any headers included in the body of the message. never forward junk mail,

I don't think sending them all those "FWD's" is moral. especially the chain letter one's and the one's where they say if you don't send this to 10 people bad things will happen.
