Computer Networking - January 2007

we're using Wireless USB network adapter for our pc's. and MS HOME for networking. sometimes it's just ok but sometimes i can't see other pc's on my network places thus, i cant open shared folders and print on their printers as well but when send messages through lan messaging, it works even i can't see other pc on my network places. any suggestion? please help me

Is this a good idea? I have a Dell dimension 3000 with Windows XP Pro installed. I am curently using cable internet, but I was wondering if I could get a wireless card installed and try to run free internet on it from my apartment. I also am using a laptop and it has a wireless internet card that alows me to conect to the internet from the apartment, so I know I have access to a wireless signal. I just want to know if I can do the same with my desktop without having to pay 300+ dollars a year for cable internet. Thanks for your response.

The registerar has a control panel for each domain i register with them. In this control panel, i point the A records and MX records to my static IP address. My static IP is provided by BrightHouse and I have a robust router, with 2 internal IPs for 2 servers. Server1 has the IIS sites (physical hosting and FTP sites), server2 will soon have the email server (SmarterMail). With a configuration like this, do i need a DNS server in this mix or not? I am using the registarars DNS to point the domain names to my static IP..within my network, to have the smartermail 4.x recognize the IIS server do i need a DNS server? thank you,

I had 2 pcs hooked up to the cable with the router, but i have unplugged all of that now. Is this something i shouldnt worry about? I also know that dial up is slow but is there anything on earth that ican do to my pc to get it to work just a little bit faster with the dial up ?

i have two desktop computers one with a dsl connection and a router the other without any connection i also have a laptop with wirless connection i dont have an extra wire or anything to connect the internet to the second desktop. so i want to know if i connect my laptop to the second desktop using a usb would i get wirless or any kind of internet connection by using this method?

I have alot of music that i want to transer over to my other computer in the other room, but how do i do it? i was able to do it before by placing the files in the folder in my newtork place or something, but i cant do that anymore for some reason. Can someone point me to a site or book where I can practice custom subnetting? I'm only doing class C right now, if that matters.
