I want to establish remote assistance between my computers. How would I go about doing that?

To use remote assistance, you have to understand two concepts:
1. the Helper
2. the User

The helper is the person that will assist the user to solve a specific issue. The helper receives a ticket that the user issues. The helper should (supposedly) have good technical skills.

Now the user is the person needing help. The user must enable RA (Remote Assistant) on his computer first (system properties - remote tab - remote assistance).
The user will then have to issue a ticket (either through messenger, or through 'help and support').
on the user's computer, the user will click on 'start' -> 'help and support' -> "Invite a friend to connect to your computer with Remote Assistance "
then follow the on-screen instructions.
The user will send the ticket to the helper using email, or IM, or as a file attached directly. THe ticket is password protected (the same password that the user specified).
The connection between the helper and the user when initiated is done on TCP port 3389. This information becomes handy in case the user is behind a firewall. In this case, the firewall must have an inbound access-rule allowing this type of traffic.

Microsoft.com and other websites have a lot of tutorials about that

I hope this finds you well!

There are 3 ways to use Microsofts Remote Assistance.

The easiest is if both of you use Microsoft Instant Messanger - when you are talking to the person you want to help or want to help you click on action in the menu bar and select request remote assistance.

The next easiest is if you use outlook or outlook express. Click the start menu and select help and support. On the top right you should see the option "Invite a friend to connect to your computer with Remote Assistance" Click on the link and if you use outlook or outlook express it will guide you through emailing for remote assistance.

If you don't use outlook you can follow the same steps as if you did but instead of emailing you will have an option to create a file that you can manually attach to an email.

Good Luck!
