I would like to create a large scale wireless network in my apartment building. Then, when a user clicks on my wireless signal they come to my homepage (just like starbucks, panera, or caribou). I would then like them to be able to create a user name, password, and pay a small monthly fee. What type of "back end" equipment do I need to make this happen. I have experience launching websites so i think i have the front end side of it figured out. I appreciate any insight. Thank you.

A couple months ago my parents hooked up with verizon DSL, and it's been running really smooth until a couple weeks ago. Now, every time I start my computer up, two boxes come up with the words "Linksys Wireless Network Monitor", reading:

"Access violation at address 0040756D in module 'WMP54Gv4.exe'. Read of address 00000368."

Those are the exact words, cuz then the box freezes and it's still up right now from early this morning. I can still get online perfectly fine and everything. Yesterday it didn't show up at all, and I thought it was all cleared up, but now it's there again. Anyone know the cause of this?

basically what i am asking is that like we can tranfer data between two computers using cat-5 crossover cable if both machines have ethernet port. is the same possible if both machines have wi-fi cards- so that some kind of direct wireless connection can be made between two machines and data transfer can take place just like with cable. is yes, how to do it, and what will be its distance (range)

What equipment would you recommend for under $100 to boost the range of a wireless connection? Range? And where's the best deal to purchase from?

my hp laptop will work fine fora while on my home network. my dsl modem/router is a westell versalink. i have not timed it, but the laptop will invariably display that our home network has little or no connectivity, requiring me to click on the wireless icon on the info bar at the bottom and click repair. it will go through it's steps and the connection is briefly reestablished. my dell laptop will stay connected for hours with no problem, and my home pc hard wired to the modem never ever drops the internet.

I was just wondering, because I seriously have no clue what a Wifi is besides the fact that it has something to do with the internet..

As of to date, are there any positive feedbacks on the above, The pricing is sorely tempting me to change suppliers. I`m with BT, I have read several negative comments on Google about them but these are now about 6 mnths old. Thanx

but i can ping the machine which is not visible
also if i do start -> run and give the machine's ip address which is not visible in the network neighbourhood, then i can see the contents of that machine.

I live in an area where electricity is irratic. It goes on and off like a child is playing with the master "light switch." Last night after the power came back on, my computer froze anytime the ethernet cable was plugged in. The ethernet was plugged in when the power came back on. No other electrical devices were damaged
