A couple months ago my parents hooked up with verizon DSL, and it's been running really smooth until a couple weeks ago. Now, every time I start my computer up, two boxes come up with the words "Linksys Wireless Network Monitor", reading:

"Access violation at address 0040756D in module 'WMP54Gv4.exe'. Read of address 00000368."

Those are the exact words, cuz then the box freezes and it's still up right now from early this morning. I can still get online perfectly fine and everything. Yesterday it didn't show up at all, and I thought it was all cleared up, but now it's there again. Anyone know the cause of this?

Jule,

If you are running WinXP it may be that the Windows wireless utility is running in the background. As for the error it is related to the software for the card.

What you can do is this. If you right click the wireless connection and choose properties there should be a wireless tab available. If there is then the windows wireless utility is providing your wifi configurations. That is if you are on WinXP. If you do have this tab just verify that there is a check mark in the box that states to use windows to configure wireless network settings.
Good Luck.

I have experienced the same problems with their network monitor. It's buggy and gets mad if your computer shuts down unexpectedly. A re-installation of the software usually fixes the problem.

You can also just continue using the Microsoft Wireless management utility and uninstall the linksys software altogether!

Reinstall your Linksys software for your wireless adapter. You could also check to see if there is an updated software on the Linksys site.

Go into the setup for your wireless router. You will see a place for setting up a WEP or WPA password. Check the documentation that came with your router for the exact procedure, as it varies with each model. Once the password is in place, anyone within the password can not use the network.
