He simply needs a wireless card for his computer. Any computer store can help.

Since he has a desktop, he probably already has an ethernet port on his computer. If you can run an ethernet cable from his computer to one of the wired ports in the router, its easy to do, this would be better.

If you want to connect a desktop to a wireless router you have two choices. You can get a wireless access point for the desktop or if the router supports it you can use a Ethernet Card and run a cable to the router. With the limited data available its hard to answer the question if you can provide the following people would be able to give you more answers.

1: What is the model number of the netgear router
2: How far away is the router from the desktop you are trying to connect to
3: Does the desktop have a Lan(Ethernet) card already in it?

Both should be able to connect to the router no problem. It is very likely that the mac has wireless internet unless it is 5+ years old, and even then it is possible. You will not need any extra equipment. Once the router is set up each computer should see and be able to login.

his machine needs to have a wireless adapter installed. A USB one is probably the easiest. Once you do that the software that came with the wireless adapter or Windows will allow you to select the wireless network you have on your router and connect to it.

Your son needs a wireless adapter. Either built in
(PCI) or external (USB). For connection the same
procedures apply as for the rest of your computers.
