hi my cam chain is making a whining noise and needs replacing, the bike has done only 8000kms. Been told it was caused by over revving at road speeds. i thought ttrs could handle commuting work easily. i know wr's and crf's are no good for road work but ttrs!. anybody else had this trouble?.

I am 16 years old. I have been ridding dirt bikes for 2 years now… I started ridding a quad (Suzuki 250)… that for about a year… then I got a dirt bike (Yamaha 230) and I have been riding that for the past 2 years, going on 3… how much experience would you guys say I have? I feel extremely confident while I ride my bike… enough experience to buy a street bike?

Ps. I have passed MSF, and have had my C & M class license for about 6 months now… and im lucky to say no incidents.. im a pretty safe driver = )…

I can't believe it. Given, my bike has been known to set off a few car alarms, but people understand that loud pipes save lives. Sometimes I feel a little bad about waking people up at night, but its a small price to pay for my safety. And the cop that gave me the ticket said that if he were the dictator of the city, he would impound my bike and then send it to the crusher if I didn't put the stock pipes back on. Can you believe that commie crap? Whats this country coming to?

I hate the way that my 660r wants to willie so easily, especially while going up hills. the torque is hard to control with the throttle and i would like to dampen the bikes tendency to want to willie, with its crappy high center of gravity. is there an extended swing arm kit that i can use? thanks.

Hi

I've got to do a chain and sprocket job, and have been trying to find out what happens to the speedometer reading when installing sprockets with a gear teeth count that's different then stock.

The bike has 15/45 teeth stock. I plan on using the same size front sprocket, but am considering installing a 47 tooth rear sprocket. Will this cause the speedometer to read higher then the actual speed, or lower?

For example, when the speedometer says 100 mph, what speed will the bike actually be traveling at, with a 47t as opposed to a 45t?

Thanks in advance for all responses.

I was at Starbucks today getting my Light Note Blend - Decaf and had a great idea. I am thinking of mounting a coffee holder on my Harley Davidson. Does anyone know if HD makes a coffee cup holder with the HD logo on it that can be mounted to my bike?

I already asked about octane and figured out I should go from 87 to 91 in octane for my motorcycle. Does anyone know; will the higher octane level change how well the engine starts, especially when it is cold? It has just a kick start so I would like starting to be as easy as possible. It is cold blooded enough as it is. Thanks.

I have a 1982 yamaha xt200 four stroke. The sticker on it says "GASOLINE GRADE: REGULAR (LEADED)." I add a lead additive in the fuel. The second thing on the sticker says "RESEARCH OCTANE: 91 MIN." I've been using regular gas. Should I use premium gas and what would the difference be? Thanks.

I just noticed this today when I got home. Smell seems to be coming from engine itself. Bike is a 1994 Honda Magna 750cc.

Haven't noticed any other real problems except lean-surging, which is common for this model.
