Well, this doesn't look like a popular opinion in this crowd, but something has to be done before communities ban motorcyclists all together (and it IS happening in private property situations already - like in neighborhoods near Myrtle Beach). Do it on the public roads and yes, you are a squid. If you want to stunt, and do 140 + mph, take it to the freakin' track or closed circuit area already - those are the ONLY places designed to do this safely, and I don't care how good a rider you are. You can't predict the actions of others on a public highway in this country, and sooner or later, your number is going to come up. If you can't afford the track, you shouldn't be stunting anyway - 'cause you insurance is probably inadequate to cover your hospital stay when your crash!

Take my word for it rhand182, idiots foolish enough to say "people like me with highly developed riding skills" and think they are capable of riding at 140 mph on a PUBLIC ROAD are the ones that end up on a slab in the morgue. Or put some poor innocent smuck there. Stupidity may kill but so does arrogance and son, you're a ticking time bomb. As far as Germany goes, different lanes on the autobahn are for different speeds. That means all the fast guys are in the far left lane and the Yugo's and farm tractors are in the far right.

Incidently, it's not so much the actual speed that kills but the difference in the speed of different vehicles. At the Indy 500, everyone is certainly going very fast but they're also all going the same direction at approximately the same speed. Throw a 60 mph top speed Yugo in the middle of them and you'd see more crashes than you could count. Be smart and save your bad as@ heroics for a true race track. I doubt your parents really want to come to the morgue and try to identify the pile of hamburger as their son.

Well-a hey, good luck catching a squid. Some places, the cops are reluctant to chase down a squid because it never ever ends well.

pulling wheelie's and speeding does not make you a squid. I regularly exceed 140 mph on public roads and have never even been close to getting into a crash. In fact I believe if there were more people like me with highly developed driving and riding skills we would have far less accidents. Speed doesn't kill, incompetence and idiocy kill. The autobahn in Germany is succesful for a reason. They make sure that their drivers and riders know what the hell they're doing and can easily control a vehicle of any kind at high speeds. Maybe this floridian idiot should take a look at that.

those of us that have lived through a 55 mph national speed limit & 85 mph speedometers realize that all it takes is the stroke of a pen by an appointed official (secretary of transportation is appointed not elected) to mandate a 80 mph (or whatever he decides)speed limiter on every motorcycle on the road, new or old.
do your trick riding when theres no traffic, most citizens are not impressed only annoy'ed

Ain't gonna happen. If the law isn't challenged in court then it will be so watered down by the time its passed no one will do time or have their scoot taken.
So they take your license. In the border areas of the US having a license and insurance is the exception rather than the rule.

aaaaaahhhhhhhhhh ..... you can always plead to a lesser offense ..... they should make charges like that for car drivers following too close then bikers wouldn't HAVE TO ride faster than four wheelers ............

any one going 140 on a public highway or doing a wheelie in heavy traffic should loose their bike and their license since they don't have enough brains to have them.
