When i first got my motorcycle i would ride it without a license, license plates or insurance. One time, as I had just entered the freeway(LA, California) i sped past a car and exceeded 90mph. A highway patrol lit-up his lights and quickly accelerated toward me from behind. The first thought i got was "no license +no insurance = me losing my new bike and getting a big fine" getting away came across my mind... there was a chance of me getting away since there's always traffic about 1 mile from where i was at. Instead, i pulled over. i was angry at myself 'cause of the mess i got myself into and i did not even attempt to escape. However, luckly for me, I got a nice cop and he let me get away without any tickets.
So... many cops out there are nice sympathetic guys and they might let us get away with one if the circumstances are reasonable. So is it worth it to try and speed-away from the cops? remember: we are the ones endangering everyone else.

start the bike, struggles to stay running, give it gas and it wavers but will ultimately catch on. I can't believe it is bad gas and I drained the float bowls. What other possibilities. thanks.

I asked a question about my starter 2 days ago. i got a lot of answers, THANKS, but got nothing resolved. "Motorcycle fell and hit the right side on the sidewalk, and now it wont start up. It has a full tank, but want make a noise. Lights, horn, and everything else seems to be working." Apparently it doesnt have a kill switch. All wires appear to be intact. Battery is new, seems fine. It has been no less than 4 days since the "acciedent", and I have tried to start it at least once a day. It seems to make absolutely no atempt to start when I try. I dont see any fuses out, and has a full tank of gas. No clue what to do next, but i have tried everything suggested. Please help!!!

Is it the look/style of the bike?
Is it because it's only 883 cc? I was told you can bore it out and make it a 1200, and the only difference between an 883 and a 1200 is the amount of chrome.
I was just wondering why some people view the Sportster 883 as a girls' bike.

I recently had my 1984 Honda Magna apart for some work. Upon putting things back together I found excessive drag in the front brakes. On the test ride the front brakes locked up completely. When applying the brake lever the pressure seems to build in the lines and not release. After a few squezees their is so much pressure that the brake lever will no longer move. I have had both calipers professionally cleaned and the problem persists.

So I just changed two different tires. I switched out a rear sand tire with a regular tire on one of my bikes, and on the other I replaced the tube in the front tire, however I keep running into the same exact problem on both tires with the bead not seating correctly when I reinflate.

I watched two different how to videos, and both of them the bead seats right up. Heres what I know I'm doing right.
-They are the correct size tire
-The tube is not twisted
- The rim lock (on rear tire) is not locked
-the valve is not tightened
-I've got the tire lubed up good

For some reason, no matter how many times or different ways I try, the bead never seats correctly when I go to inflate it. On one side the bead line is still slightly tucked into the rim, on the other side the bead is bulging out further than it should. I've even tried prying the one side out and tucking the other in while I inflate, but no luck. I've tried about 15 times on each tire. How can I fix this?

My problem:
Bike runs great for first 20 minutes until it gets hot. When it's hot it sputters and backfires at around 4000 rpm. I have tested my ignition coil and it tested ok, but I have read that they can fail when they get hot. Can I replace it with one off of any 125? The plugs look good, no signs of overheating. Cleaned carbs, compression is good. Bike is 78 KawasakiKE125 enduro

I recently bought a 1982 Honda CS250 four-stroke road bike. The bike starts good and runs good except.... when in a higher gear (3-5) and you let off the throttle to coast, and then open the throttle up again, it has a real bad hesitation. If you leave it 3/4 choked, it eliminates the problem. That would lead me to believe that it is running way to lean and choking it richens the mixture and makes it run better, but I searched for a mixture adjustment screw and cant find one.... the only adjustment screw i could find on the carb is up by the intake manifold and it faces downward. I turned it in (to the right) about a turn and a half and it helped a little bit, but im assuming that screw is like any other carb adjustment screw and turning it in would make it leaner.. so it doesnt make sense. Does anyone have any ideas? Also what does that screw adjust? Also sometimes when i start it, it make almost a whistling sound that i think is coming from the exhaust? Is this related?

So I usually adjust my clutch cable by loosening it till the bike creeps slightly with the clutch in and then tightening it till the creeping stops. Today I was wheeling the bike around a parking lot with the motor running, and I noticed that when I'm not actually sitting on the bike there is a noticable amount of creepage occuring, although the bike is just fine if I have the clutch in while I am sitting on it. Any thoughts on this? How do you adjust your clutch cable?

I followed the directions on the owners manual: turn key to middle of "on" and "off" and lift the seat. Unfortunately, the seat does not lift and I can't find any lever or anything. I'm sure the lock's not broken since the person I bought it from opened it in front of me. Any insight our tips would greatly be appreciated!

I have auto insurance, but no bike yet, so I have no motorcycle insurance. If I ride my friend's bike, will his insurance cover me? Or does my auto insurance cover me? Or am I not covered unless I have motorcycle insurance? Can you even get motorcycle insurance without a bike?

my friend said he would pick me up another bike as a gift, so I'm trying to figure out what I should get.

I really like the 05/06 R1, but it might be cool to have a duc 1098 or something if he can find one. I've heard ducatis have lots of mechanical problems though... anyone here have experience with them? I also like the 05-07 1000rr. Which of these should i get?

When you get a motorcycle financed and the bank requires the owner to get full insurance coverage on your bike. Lets say if I were to cancel my insurance after couple of months because of some reason and not have any policy for next year. Will the bank find out and penalize me until I get one?

Or can I get away with that?

Thanks.........

they made this seat for one year (79) for the special. the 1980-81 seat will not fit. nor will a standard xs1100 fit. It must be for the 79 xs1100 special. Ebay gets one occasionally and they sell for outrageous prices. I've called numerous salvage shops in the northeast and even some in the south with no luck, my price range is $130 max including the shipping. thanks for any suggestions or leads you can give me.
