When i first got my motorcycle i would ride it without a license, license plates or insurance. One time, as I had just entered the freeway(LA, California) i sped past a car and exceeded 90mph. A highway patrol lit-up his lights and quickly accelerated toward me from behind. The first thought i got was "no license +no insurance = me losing my new bike and getting a big fine" getting away came across my mind... there was a chance of me getting away since there's always traffic about 1 mile from where i was at. Instead, i pulled over. i was angry at myself 'cause of the mess i got myself into and i did not even attempt to escape. However, luckly for me, I got a nice cop and he let me get away without any tickets.
So... many cops out there are nice sympathetic guys and they might let us get away with one if the circumstances are reasonable. So is it worth it to try and speed-away from the cops? remember: we are the ones endangering everyone else.

You can look at this situation anyway you want.but, the best overall advice that can be given is....you did the right thing by pulling over, If you would have ran you could have killed yourself or another rider or a family of four in car. Remember, if a motorcycle weighs 500lbs. and the rider weighs 180lbs. and your speeding at 100mph and you hit a car that weighs 3000lbs. that equals massive carnage....Is it worth your life or someone elese's life, do you really think you can live with that. And here is something to think about.....what if there was some guy in a car and he decides to run from the cops because he thinks he has a fast car and no license or insurance and he thinks he knows how to drive at high speeds and runs over a pack a guys on crotch rockets that are out just cruising around and not breaking the law.....that makes you kind of think about it.

had u done a stunt like this in ohio, u woulda been tagged for reckless op, speed, no plates, no insurance reguardless. u would have lost the bike and got a few days at least in jail for sure. over here, 15 or over the limit usually gets a reckless op tacked on. ohp has no sympathy for stupidity.

they will stop u sooner or later. u might outrun the car, u wont outrun the radio. and they will have plenty of time to set up intercept points and release spike sticks at the very last second so u cant avoid them. u will wind up getting a felony fleeing and eluding, and not stopping at a signal or order from a police officer tacked on to the above, plus u will face multiple counts of how many stop signs and/or red lights u blew thru. it's very obvious that running 100+ down a residential street will definately get a reckless op. and btw, u can also wind up facing a reckless endangerment charge also. a bike can kill a pedestrian on impact at high speed..

since u dont have a license, u will get cracked big time when it comes time to face the judge....and if u run, u'll wind up spending some time in the clink. sounds like that chp dude was either lazy or didnt want to fill out alot of paperwork, cause in ohio, u would have had to sell the bike to pay off the fines.

I'm not saying its big or clever, but I have out run the police on 3 occasions.

On two occasion we [ me and a mate ] even beat the police helicopter.

This however was almost easy.

This was in my youth and I'm not proud of what we did, but it was so easy to beat the normal traffic cars when you are riding a TLR 1000 and matey has a Hole-shot Turbo Bandit 12. We have the treat of having Leeds & Bradford Int Airport on our doorstop, so all you have to do is get the the airport ASAP. The police helicoptor can not fly into British Civil Airspace. So you park the bikes in an underground car park, pay for a 14 day parking pass, then go to the departure lounge for a coffee. After the first time we did this, we rented a lock box to store some casual cloths, rather then wareing full one piece leathers in the coffee bar.

12 days later, go up in a taxi, collect the bikes and ride them home in a very calm manor.

I got this advise from a kid who bought my old NC35 ( RVF 400 ) track bike of me. He used it on the road rather then the track, he lived near Robin Hood Airport in Doncaster. I was young dumb and full of ***, so thought I would try it for myself. The rush you get is like nothing else I ever done. You are buzzing like mad. What really scares you is when the Transport Police come into the departure lounge WITH the regular cops looking at you asking why you are in bike gear! You say its a fetish thing!!

Not good for the weak heart.

Like I say, it was alter ego in my youth.

Now I get my kicks from riding as fast as i want, where I want ................. the track.

Los Angeles: Don't try to get away from the cops. If they think you're an idiot, they'll radio ahead.

I think your story must be common. I did the 90 mph thing on the 210 freeway myself between Pasadena and La Canada, got pulled over, the CHP officer yelled at me but did not give me a ticket. This was four months after I'd started riding.

I would ignore choperchopster. Don't youthink they have radios, police buddies up ahead, even in the air? If they see your bike, there's a good chance you will be identified. I think you were extremely lucky. I would have had you off the road for a year. What happens if you are out-running the cops and you hit someone, or someone is killed? No license, deliberately riding recklessly, no insurance = time in jail; possibly a long time if you are facing a culpable riding charge (someone killed or seriously injured).

Here in Missouri, the State Highway Patrol has a new car, called an "Ariel 7"

I have not ever seen it, but I do know that the car can keep up with an R1, and it can easily pass a Gixxr in the Twisties.

apparently the car is powered by a twin turbo 4cyl, and has a fiberglass shell, and only weighs about 800lbs. there is no room in it for the cop to make an arrest, but he can definitely keep up with you, and tell his buddies when to lay their traps.

If they let me have some free trial i'd do it, but i wouldnt pay first thing, i read about it a bit and they're talking about how guns are really unbalanced and what not, plus for any new open-world online RPG, always better to wait a year or so, that way they have had time to patch most of the glitches out of it. I remember how spazzy WoW was it's first year.

You did the right thing and got a warning. If you got caught running, you would have gone to jail. When your running, you don't always think clearly and could get your self killed. Do you really want to take those chance when the worse thing that could happen by pulling over is a hefty fine and your bike in the pound for 30 days?

No, don't do it. I ride bikes and am in law enforcement. believe me, what comes around, goes around. It is not pretty to pick up the peices of a bike and or rider after pulling a stunt like that. You did right by pulling over, most officers have more respect for you for that, I know I would have.

It's not worth it unless you want to become a statistic and give the rest of us a bad name. You might get away once or twice, but eventually you will get caught or worse killed because of the choice that you made.
