I was looking for a motorcycle helmet. Which ones are good? also taking into consideration the wind noise. What is the proper way to measure what size I am (head)?

I recently passed a local MSF course and bought the book Proficient Motorcycling, and I'm a bit confused. I thought countersteering involved me pushing down on the handle bar grip in the direction I wanted to go. For example, push right, go right.

Maybe I'm reading something wrong here, but the book is telling me to push that grip forward, rather than push down on it, which would force my steering wheel to go to the left if I want to countersteer to the right.

Any help?

Hi,

I just got a 2007 honda nighthawk and i have a few questions.

#1
At what speed should i change gears if i am on flat land ( i am 150 pounds ) like should i get into 2nd at 15 mph?

#2 then i use the front break i have to pull the brake in about a centimeter befor it actually starts to apply the break, is this normal?

#3 the first time i started it up i kinda heard a wirling noise from the engine as it idled, is this normal?

# 4this is an important one.... I started the bike with the choke on, it was a 9 am after a cold night. I let it warm up ( in just idleing) for a about 7 mins. Then i slowly pushed the choke closed. The bike dies when it is almost completly closed. If i gas it a lil as i close the choke it does not die, what up with that?
#5 my brother also uses the same nighthawk ( i got 2 of them at the same time so same dealer set them up) and he has trouble finding nutral when stoped... is this cuz we don't know what we are doing ( i know 1 down 2 up..)TY

I was born with a right hand birth defect. I was wondering if there could be alterations made to the motorcycle/scooter that would allow my left hand to control the acceleration/braking.

I've taken on a Sportster. It runs fine, but the starter either isn't getting power or is needing to be replaced. I have tried to cross the studs on the solenoid. The lights don't dim and nothing changes. I am at a loss. Any help. I refuse to kick start this beast again, due to the fact, it kicks back and injures my calf.

I have a 2001 Honda CR125R, and 18 riding hours ago i had the topend rebuilt. And now it's leaking around the head gasket a little bit on each side and the back of the head, and also thru the hole in the head the studs go thru that hold on the head. So i tighted up the bolts, what I could considering they were on tight as they could go anyway, and that didn't seem to help. I'm thinking it's just the head gasket that's going bad or just wasn't strong enough in the first place. I was just seeing what you think on this subject and why it would be doing this. Any input is greatly appreciated!! Thanks!!

I know on motorcycles, the 1st gear is all the way up. To get to second, do I do two clicks down or what? How are they set up? Also, Are clutches different on all bikes? I rode my cousins motorcycle and I had to give gas much more at the beginning as I barely let go of the clutch. Then on my cousins dirtbike, I let the clutch go a lot and then gave it gas. Are they all different?

I need to know what screws/bolts to take out to remove the mud flap (stock fender) so that I can install a aftermarket fender eliminator kit. I called the Honda dealer, and they said that they would charge $199.00 just to install it and that it takes 2-3 hours for the pros to do it! Surely it can't be this hard!! Please help!

Do you think this should only be used on the track? I'm not talking about 100 MPH sweepers but in slower turns where more traction would be nice. A talent or a #$%@^& nuisance?

I've always wondered about how a motorcycle and rider would control and survive a tire blowout, cruising on the freeway at 65-75 MPH? Although it is probably an unusual situation, as most riders do a "flight check" prior to a long ride.

A blowout on a four wheel auto is one thing, but with only two tires, I don't even want to think about it. A small leak which could cause the tire to go flat, unnoticed until a flat tire would be another situation of safety

If this has ever happened to any of you riders out there, can you give us the details on the road conditions, type and weight of bike you were riding and what damages occured to you and your bike. Thanks
