Hi,

I just got a 2007 honda nighthawk and i have a few questions.

#1
At what speed should i change gears if i am on flat land ( i am 150 pounds ) like should i get into 2nd at 15 mph?

#2 then i use the front break i have to pull the brake in about a centimeter befor it actually starts to apply the break, is this normal?

#3 the first time i started it up i kinda heard a wirling noise from the engine as it idled, is this normal?

# 4this is an important one.... I started the bike with the choke on, it was a 9 am after a cold night. I let it warm up ( in just idleing) for a about 7 mins. Then i slowly pushed the choke closed. The bike dies when it is almost completly closed. If i gas it a lil as i close the choke it does not die, what up with that?
#5 my brother also uses the same nighthawk ( i got 2 of them at the same time so same dealer set them up) and he has trouble finding nutral when stoped... is this cuz we don't know what we are doing ( i know 1 down 2 up..)TY

--Choke - All Hondas are usually cold blooded. They take a long time to get up to operating temperature. Don't just sit there letting it idle. When the bike will run and idle fine on 1/2 choke, ride it. Turn off the choke in increments until it's no longer needed. Letting a bike idle with the choke on, will foul the spark plugs .
--Transmission - Lots of bikes have trouble finding neutral while the bike is stopped. It's a natural occurrence with constant mess transmission. Either shift to neutral when the bike is rolling.
OR
Rev the engine, and let go of the throttle. Just as the reves change, the transmission gears release tension on each other, then shift.
--Without hearing the wirling noise, I can only offer a suggestion - The starter motor, the gear it meshes with and the starter clutch are "free-wheeling" - normal.
--F brake - Normal.
--Shift - During break-in, shift gears at approx 1/2 - 2/3 of the RPM range.
RPM range is between idle and WFO (wide f'n open).

Important: Read your owner's manual. If you don't have one get one. Your dealer should have supplied one with the bike if it was new. Usually the dealers will remove them from the bikes in the showroom to keep them from being stolen off the bikes before they are sold so you may have to ask for it. You should find answers to all those questions in it without having worry if the answers are correct or not...If you didn't get the bike from a dealer of they won't give you one for some reason you can order one Honda's web site or from any Honda dealers parts department...the part # for the 2007 CB250 Nighthawk owner's manual is: 31KPJ660 and it is only $16.00... http://www.helminc.com/helm/product2.asp?class%5F2=AHC&mk=Honda+Motorcycle&yr=2007&md=On%2DRoad&dt=Owner+Manuals&module=&from=result&Style=G61ZYSAHC9JVF8W&Sku=31KPJ660&itemtype=N&mscsid=B5N01KKXS3UL9LPSRQMD1J17NMR8ASC7
