I have a 2001 Honda CR125R, and 18 riding hours ago i had the topend rebuilt. And now it's leaking around the head gasket a little bit on each side and the back of the head, and also thru the hole in the head the studs go thru that hold on the head. So i tighted up the bolts, what I could considering they were on tight as they could go anyway, and that didn't seem to help. I'm thinking it's just the head gasket that's going bad or just wasn't strong enough in the first place. I was just seeing what you think on this subject and why it would be doing this. Any input is greatly appreciated!! Thanks!!

did you re torque the head bolts after a few hours or riding? You might have streched a bolt and or warped the head some and will need resurfacing. If you want to go the cheap way just buy a new gasket and use permatex Indian Head gasket shellac ;)

If your the head of your engine is not warped, suggest you have the head gasket replaced (what you have installed may not be a genuine honda gasket for your bike) and bolts torqued to specifications. Make sure that the bolts are tightened in proper sequence. If I am right, the pattern should be a letter "X". And don't tighten the bolts when the engine is hot you might damage the heads.

It happens.
Possible causes -
Defective gasket.
Gasket surfaces not cleaned properly - some of the old gasket was still left on the surfaces - oil, dirt, finger prints weren't washed off of surfaces with contact cleaner - coolant leaked out of the head and got on the gasket when assembling.
Torqued improperly - not torqued at all, just tightened - didn't torque to proper specs - didn't tighten in a criss-cross pattern in steps..
Take it apart, install a new gasket properly.
