only if the accident broke my hands

No way. If you have motorcycling in your blood, there's nothing that's going to stop you. I've been down twice. Hasn't stopped me yet. I'll ride as long as I can physically handle the bike. When that day comes I'll have to get the bike customized in some way so I can keep riding. If an accident stops you from riding, you probably weren't really into riding to begin with. If you have an accident in a car, do you stop riding/driving a car? No. If you trip and fall and break your leg, do you stop walking? No. So, if you have an accident on your bike, do you stop riding? No.

When I got hit ,head on by a 1962 Buick Skylark station wagon , breaking both my arms and legs and fracturing my skull as well as an assortment of other misc injuries, I swore I would never ride again.
That lasted about a week, I had bought a new bike before the plaster and fiberglass had set up.
That was close to 30 years ago and I've been riding ever since.

So in answer to your question, unless the accident killed or paralyzed me no I would not stop riding.

I do right now, and I have been customized ive been lowered 1-3/4" in the right leg (shortened) and walk on crutches for the last 10years was hit broadside @ 60mph totaled the bike. It wasn't the bike or my fault so why stop riding I have friends that ride one missing the left hand and one paralizied from the waist down and if and when my leg wont let me ride on two wheels anymore i'm turning it into a trike also i ride a road king at around 750#'s so the only thing i have to watch is where i park besides there is NOTHING like being in the wind.

It has not. I was t-boned last summer by a guy who ran a stop sign. My daughter & I were in the hospital for a week, broken legs, etc. I was in a cast for 6 months, took another 6 to learn how to walk again but I bought a new bike before I could walk. I wasn't scared (any more than before) to ride again.

Up to that point I had been riding 20 years without so much as falling over. I figure I'll ride for another 19 then hang it up before I get hit again.

I lost a lot of dear friends in bike crashes. I respect them now by respecting the ride, and all road users. I try not to let Adeline take over, I am careful while riding, and most importantly I pray before every ride and a lot more while riding.

Praying while riding is an awesome thing to do; Its like letting God do everything, I have faith that God will be with me whenever I ride, and so should all ya bikers!

Keep riding with God, and you'll have nothing to Fear about ;-)

What do you mean WOULD? You've no doubt herd that there are two types of riders: those that have crashed and those that will. I totaled my first bike in January '06, and the gear I was wearing meant I walked away with a few bruises and was back to work the next day. Insurance took care of the rest.

No gear will save a rider from blatant stupidity, just like airbags won't save a Hummer from driving off a cliff. But if "U" want to have a far better chance of surviving if "U" have the right gear on.

Now let's hear from the super-special riders who were "fine" starting on a literbike...

I high sided my Katana 750 at almost 75mph in 1997. Nearly totaled the bike, but, it was ready to go before I was healed enough. Didn't slow me down a bit. I've owned several more bikes since and find myself moving towards the comfort end as I get older, but, I'll always ride.

Probably not.

I'm more of a defensive rather than aggressive rider. I'll wear all the safety gear I can get my hands on; boots, leathers, gloves and helmet.

I've never been in a wreck on the bike. I've picked the Harley up off a friend twice, but like the variety of car wrecks I've been in, sometimes, you just can't avoid getting back out there.

I don't ride but I know 2 people who have died from riding accidents and one guy who was in the hospital for 4 weeks due to one. He has stopped riding. I never will ride seen to many bad things with friends and while I worked in surgery.
