Might not be a best answer. Depends on what you want to do with it. A trials bike is essential for trials, but may not be the coolest cruiser around. And some of those tire-smoking, 160+ mph bikes might not be the best choice for a new rider.

For me, I like something like a 750 cc bike- plenty of power, but not uncontrollable. I like cruiser styling, but don't like forward pegs because my butt bounces on the bumps. The rolling EZ-Boy chairs aren't for me. I don't need the humongous windscreen-with-stereo things, either. If money were no object, I might like an Arlen Ness bike, but for now, my beer budget keeps me from plunking down serious coin for a bike. The best bike I ever owned was a 1963 Honda C110. The fastest, pull-my-arms-out-my-shoulders bike I ever owned was a Yamaha RD350. The bike I commuted most on was a cool old Honda CB360 (with air horns that I put on). The funnest bike I ever owned was my race bike, a Bultaco Sherpa (AMA Dist 36 plate) that I raced in Hayward, Lodi, Stockton, Hollister and a couple other places.

So, since I don't know what you want, it's hard for me to say which is the best bike, old or new. But I hope I helped a bit.

No question about it the Dodge Tomahawk. Putting a Viper engine on a Bike was about the coolest thing going. But I have been riding now for 35 years and I think the best I have ridden is the 1982 Honda CBX, 1050ccs and a soft tail. I have been riding mine for 10 years now and still leaving Harleys by the road side.

Depends on what works best for your budget.
Some people take such good care of their cycles that a used one can be cheaper yet just as beautiful as a new one.
Take a look at all of them and decide based on your eyes and your pocket book!

if you are a new rider get a cheap old bike, because you are going to bang up whatever you try to learn on.

then it is a matter of taste. you could get an actual vintage motorcycle or get a new one that has vintage influences

older bikes have more style and class. every time i see a new crotch rocket, i think of fast and furious or somthing, and what an a$$hole the person is riding on it
