I got a whole new(newer) rearend for my 97 formula recently and it has a computer controlled transmission and the rearend I put in isnt the same exact gearing and it seems to shift too late now and my speedo is off, I realize there is programmers to change shift points and change ratios, but I am not sure what the new ratio is... and if I did know, how would I go about changing this back to stock shift points(or better) for cheap or free. all I know right now is that when im going 55 mph, my speedo says roughly 68-69 mph, give or take a bit since I was just using a pace car with cruise on. Any help on this would be great!

I have 98' model Toyota Corolla since one year. It runs perfectly fine and never had any problems so far. But it takes an engine oil like a hell! I checked with my local repair shop and found out no leakage on the engine but burns an oil quickly. I have been feeding an engine oil every twice a week to make it wotrh it. The engine also makes a weird noise when i press an accelerator (0 to 20mph) and then stops gradually when it takes the speed. If i feed an oil the noise is lower and cannot be heard for couple of days and after few days the noise is same ....! Do you have any idea to abolish my engine noise and save some money on oil?

My 1994 Ford Escort wont start. The battery is fine so I've been advised to check the starter, the solenoid or the ignition relay but I have no clue as to where to find the solenoid or the ignition relay. The car makes a very faint click sound when I turn the key but no other sound and just one click per turn.

I have a 96 Jeep Grand Cherokee, and want to see if this is possible to do: I want to weld in a Y-pipe right before the cat, and have one pipe lead into the normal exhaust (cat, muffler, etc.), and then the other end of the Y to just be open. Also, I'd want to put a plate in the Y-pipe to make it switchable between the normal exhaust and free flow (to pass inspection). Is this somewhat common? Also, does it burn up the valves at all because there isn't as much pipe between them and open air?

Any comments are gladly accepted!

When I park my car it makes this noise that I cant explain, sounds like a screaching, loud, annoying sound, what can that be? I dont hear it all when I am driving, only when I am backing my car up. When I press on the brakes while backing up the noise stops, once I let go it starts up again, does anybody have any idea? Anything I should look for, suggest I should do, any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Ill try to be as specific as possible (I know NOTHING about cars) I drive a '98 Grand-Am. Ive had it for 2 months, still getting used 2 it. I live in Illinois, our nights have been about 20 degrees (really cold) My car is good on transmission fluid, water, & coolant.
The ppl who I sold me the car from said they changd my oil, but it doesnt seem like it has been changed. Its really dark, could just be really heavy oil. This happened for the 1st time yesterday, (I had drove 2 school, come home, went inside for an hour, & then returned 2 my car and it did this) & it happened again this morning before I went 2 school: I started up my car (it rev'd, my tacometer said it was running, heat worked, all was good) I put it in reverse 2 leave my driveway & it didnt move at all. so I tapped on my accelerater a little to get it 2 go. nothing happened. after putting my car in drive, then park, then drive, so on, I finally got it 2 move. after driving for a few min, I heard a "liquidy" sound

My friend has a 1999 300m ,but when he has his 20" rims on the steering shakes, but when he put the stock 17" rims back on it did not shake. What could be the cause of this. I know about Chrysler steering problems such as the Rack & Pinion but I'm hoping it could be something else.
