My friend has a 1999 300m ,but when he has his 20" rims on the steering shakes, but when he put the stock 17" rims back on it did not shake. What could be the cause of this. I know about Chrysler steering problems such as the Rack & Pinion but I'm hoping it could be something else.

If the car only shakes with the 20" wheels installed, that's where the problem is. Could be either one or both of the wheels, or one or both of the tires. Tell your friend to take those 20" wheels somewhere for a good spin balance job.

It has to do with the oversized wheels and tires as the shaking is not there with the factory wheels and tires on, could be a tire out of balance or a bad tire such as a shifted belt in one of them.

Were the rims and tires balanced properly? If he can change the rims and no more shaking occurs. I would think it to be the 20" rims need to be balanced
