I have a 1968 GMC Sierra P/U with a 327 5.4L 78 Corvette engine. While running in idle the engine died, to be safe I replaced the distributor, cap, rotor and ignition coil (all 78 corvette HEI). I double checked that the spark plugs were in the proper firing order, the starter will crank and the engine will turn, carburator smells of fuel (engine back fired once or twice) . I'm at a blank, what could I be missing? Fusable link maybe? All fuses look good and I dont see any obviously damaged wires etc.

I bought one of those jumpstarter batteries that doesn't require a second car. It says the car needs to be 12 AC or something? As opposed to 6 or 24... What does that mean? Any precautions or tips? It's currently charging in my guarage and I plan on using it tomorrow.

I want to customize my 98 pontiac grand am. see it has 178 000 on it. But my question is is that if i start adding new parts for the old vehicle with so many miles, will it run like new again as i customize it (adding new parts to worn out ones? transforming it into a new car from scratch by adding parts and designing it to make it look more attractive......be specific and also can i reverse the age (milage) on it too? or would the miles still remain there?

We were told that a rod bearing is bad in our engine and it will cost around $3,000 to repair. The oil has been changed every 3000 miles and the vehicle only has 87,000 miles on it. What is the best way to pull the engine for possible replacement or repair? The mechanic said we must have gotten a lemon because he's heard very little in the way of problems. Other problems we've had repaired consist of wheel bearing replacement 4 times, defective sliding door, coolant leak, air conditioning stopped working a week after warranty was up and air bag system malfunction. I had an extended warranty from GM on the motor only. We noticed a noise from the lifters and took it in for repair. It was supposedly repaired but one week after the repair, the rod bearing is damaged. Can anyone advise on how to proceed with this van?...short of a bonfire?

no power is going to spark plugs to turn over vehicle; all fuses, starter, sensors and power check out. The ECU was checked also and replaced. Could there be an additional problem resulting from lite accident that would prevent Jeep from turning over? HELP

My car with 45,000 miles on it has the following issues...

1. The car jerks at every shift after it warms up

2. After I back out of the driveway and shift into drive I accelerate, the car revs kind of high, moves a little, then catches on and jerks really hard. After that...

3. The car drives normal for about 10 minutes, then it starts to jerk at every shift (1,2,3)

::I've had the transmission fluid flushed by the dealer already::
::No Help::

4. Also, there is this "clattering" sound when I accelerate while i'm going about 25 mph. It clatters and stops after I reach about 40 mph

5. Today I was waiting in the car in the parking lot with the car on, and in park. The car trembled noticealby, like it was going to die out. It's done that twice

6. The gas guage isn't so accurate either...you get in the car in the morning and it says it has a little left...once I get out of the neighborhood it's below the red line, then the "low fuel" message appears

My 1991 Nissan Sentra has been overheating lately on very short trips. My dad put a brand new cooling fan on it in August and as far as I can tell it is switching on. I can see it and hear it. It is also full of coolant. I don't see anything leaking.

My dad says he thinks the simplest explanation is that the thermostat isn't opening up to let the coolant through. One of my colleagues suggested the water pump. What could be some other, if any, possibilities for the cause of this? My dad is usually my mechanic, but I am now 600 miles away and I do not want to get ripped off by some mechanic who thinks I'm some dumb woman.

Thanks.
