I replaced my car battery about a month ago (light was left on all night) I have had the car 3 years and it was used when I got it...anyways ever since then my car won't start unless I jump it, but if I do jump it it will run as long as drive it? what could be the reason it doesn't hold a charge?
btw..its a 99 saturn coupe if that makes a difference.

not sure what you mean by cells being inactive or not....car runs fine when I jump it, it even starts if I resart it right after I turn it off, but when I go out the next day its completely dead.

have your alternator check,,but make sure they charge the battery first or else they will have a false reading,,your battery is half charge right now depending on how long you have been driving after you jump start the car

check for battery drain ,there might be a load that is eating your battery overnight,,

you want to make sure?? disconnect battery when your at home then connect it back in the morning ,,if it start ,,you have a drain on your system,,,,,,,,if it wont start your battery
is weak or about to die....NOTE make sure your battery is
at least half charge, when you do this test,,

you might have a driveability concern after you connect the battery, its normal because you erase the memory of the computer when you disconnect the battery ,it will relearn by itself......

Next tiem you get the car started, take it to AutoZone or any other type shop, have the battery tested, they can also check your charging system.

If all that checks out, you have something on that is draining your battery when it sits overnight, some of the things I have seen do that, are hood lights where the bulb is burnt out, trunk lights the same way, etc. Time consuming and painstaking process to find it, but when you do, it will be worth the aggravation.

It's the alternator, have it checked out, Advanced Auto Parts store and prob other will test it for free. Eventually your battery will go bad sooner than it should being depleted everyday. You can also check the connections to see if it's corroded or tight on both ends.

it could be your belt slipping too. check all wire leads to see if there is a short and check your battery terminals also.
