Master cylinder is only half full of fluid thus making the pedal spongey. Not showing signs of leakng around the master cylinder and all break cylinders show no signs of leaking. What happened to the fluid? Will replacing the the master cylinder solve this problem? It is a 2001 Chevrolet Tracker.
Thanks!

I have a 2002 Mercury Mountaineer and it started making a grinding metal noise which gets louder when I press on the breaks. I tought it might of been the brakes so I had them changed but the noise continued. Some one told me it might be the wheelbarrow but I work with a mechanic and he told me that was not the problem. What could it be?

When turning the problem seems worse I have recently replaced the struts and this did not solve the problem. I would appreciate any advice or ideas of what could be causing this problem.

I have a '91 Eagle Talon and I went out this morning to warm the car up and I turned on the fan, and it worked but the belts always squeals so i turned it off, not to wake up the neighbors. 5 minutes later I went back in and turned the fan on again and no air was coming out.

Anyone know what could have happened and what I can do to fix it?

Engine light came on this morning, car was fine and running until I got onto the HYW, than it started to shake and stolled twice. Drivers manuel says either it is the fuel pump dispenser control, or the fuel pump fuze. If it is the fuel pump the car would not have started period, and I checked the fuzes and they are also fine. Any one out there have a clue as to what the problem might be. Your help is appriciated. My Car is a 2003 Misubishi Lancor, and I have driven approxiamatley 83000 Kilometers on it. Thanks

I replaces the front brake pads on my 98 civic and I noticed I had spongy brakes afterward. I bled my brakes and that didn't help. At this point I'm thinking it might either be the master cylinder or the calipers that are at fault. Is there any way to tell which one might be causing the problem by how the car is braking? Right now when I step on the brake pedal it goes all the way to the floor . There isn't any sudden jerking when I step on the pedal.

It has not been used since May 2007. The lines and tanks were drained then so there should not be anything left in the lines to freeze. Do I still need to winterize or will the pipes be ok?

I have a 2001 Honda Civic thats been running fine since we bought it 2 years ago. We put an alarm on it then and its never given us any trouble. Last week we noticed a plastic burning smell from the engine & a few nights later after it had been driven, the car wouldn't start back up. The next morning we went back to it & it started. We went to a shop and they thought it was battery acid corrosion on the coils around the battery, they scraped it off & the car worked fine. That night after we had driven it for a while, we went to get back in & it wouldn't start again. This time we had to get it towed. This shop said it was the alarm. They disconnected it and charged us $200. We drove back home, made a stop, got back in the car & it wouldn't start again! The car was towed back to the shop now they say its a different problem and that the $200 we just payed has nothing to do with this problem. Obviously they never fixed it right in the 1st place and want more $. What are our legal rights?
