What is being missed here concerns removal of the dampener pulley in the end of the crankshaft. 95% of the time the radiator and condensor coils must be removed if you have air conditioning for clearance for the following tool. Both NAPA and Car Quest have dampener pulley removal kits for around $29.00. This a very specialized tool as it pushes against the crankshaft and pulls from the drilled and threaded holes on the inner hub on the face of the pulley. Never let anyone talk you into using a wheel puller gripping the outside edges of the dampener. You'll ruin it in less than 3 seconds. The actual gasket set will only cost a few bucks. Clean the block and timing chain cover. While you're there inspect the timing chain for slop. Replace if necessary with a double roller chain or a gear drive. If you can afford it. $99.00 for te least expensive and close to $200.00 for a Pete Jackson gear drive. He buils them in both the "noisey and quiet" vearoin.

The best way to get this information is from a web repair site or get estimates from reputable repair shops. A basic guess at the repair cost if and only if all other components are o.k. would be around 3 to 6 hundred bucks. Again the costs vary depending on all other aspects.

the timing cover gasket is seven dollars in the summit racing catalog, but if you include the labor involved in removing all of the components conected to the front of the motor, you will be up around $250
