Depends on the type of tune-up, But it never hurts to be on the safe side. I always do because my tune-ups include cleaning the battery terminals. If it is a newer vehicle unhooking the battery may allow the computers on it to reset and more readily recognize any changes to the engine. This comes from a shade-tree mechanic, not a dealer trained tech.

I would suggest that it is wise to unhook battery before doing any work.
Otherwise, the results may be shocking.

It depents what you are doing. Also, I had a '93 grand prix that I had to take in and have the computer programmed everytime I disconnected the battery.

For safety reasons you should always disconnect battery when ever you work on the vehicle.

Yes you should. that way you avoid shorting anything out. and also you won't get shocked by the ignition coil.
