Our friend has invented a spill proof bottle cap for a quart of motor oil, and we want him to market it to oil companies such as Pennzoil or Quaker State. I want to know what you think. Would you buy it? How much would you pay for a motor oil bottle with a spill proof cap? I need to convince him to push his idea forward... your input will help.

I have a 2001 Jeep Cherokee. Last night I was backing out of the driveway and my brakes just died. And then my brake light came on. I had noticed a little during the day that I was having to really pump or slam on my brakes to get to a stop at my normal rate. Does this most likely mean that I'm low on brake fluid or that the brakes themselves are shot? Anyone? If the brakes are shot, can anyone offer a ballpark on how much it would cost to fix them?

i live in illinois and the winters are harsh i guess. But is it worth it to get a remote starter. Can't i just start the car and drive right away because the engine heats up faster that way anyway? or what is the main reason of a remote starter?

This summer I replaced the water pump in my Bravada, while I had the pump out, I flushed out the radiator and the pump openings. Once the weather started getting cold I found I had no heat. I took the hoses off the heater core and flushed it out. A lot of rusty looking water came out so I continued to flush it until it ran clear. After this I had heat for about a day and a half and then it went away again. I have tried flusing the heater core again, but cannot get the heat back, any suggestions?

All I did was replace the front pads. Could I have introduced air into the brake line without even touching any other part of the brake system?

I have an '07 Saturn Vue that we just bought about 2 months ago. I hadn't heard it before but lately if I turn the car on and step out of it and walk toward the back you can hear a slight "put-put" sound and there is this overwhelming smell of some kind of gas (not gasoline smelling) that makes me cough. We have an open carport. I had never had that problem with my other vehicle so I know its not normal. I just was wondering if it is an exhaust leak? Or what it could be?

The car is under warranty for 3 years, if it is an exhaust leak, do you think its worth taking it to the nearest dealership ( 50 miles away) to get it fixed by them, or paying someone else to do it here?

I have a 96 Honda Accord LX (4 cylinder) and I have noticed the oil light started flickering at idle speed (when I have the clutch engaged and sometimes shifting if I don't give it enough gas and the RPMs get low). The oil level is fine when I check. I recently changed the oil myself (usually do) but I can't say for certain the problem started after this. I was hoping it may just be an electrical issue but I doubt it. Anyone know the most likely problem? Thanks.

I have an 87 dodge ram and on the driver door the strip fell off somewhere. This is just sections of black metal panelling that runs the length of both sides of the truck. I don't know the name for this at all and want to look for it. So question 2, other than ebay, any idea where to look?

It is not the reving of the engine(i am not an idiot)- it is under that sound. The car is running fine... heat, accelaration, decelaration-etc...
There is just an underlying winding up and winding as i accelerate and drift..... does anyone have any ideas what this might be?

In July my Seat Arosa broke down. My garage said the throttle body needed to be replaced. They said on the phone it was £418 inc VAT. When I turned up to collect the car, it was actually plus VAT, so was nearer £500. I complained but the owner just said, you should have checked the price with me, not the apprentice. I paid it simply to get my car back, didn't know what my rights were.

Its broken down 3 times since, going into limp home mode, with exactly the same symptoms. They replaced the throttle body twice more but didn't know what was causing the faults. They spoke to the dealer, who didn't know. When it broke down last week, replacing the throttle body didn't make any difference. The garage ended up taking it to the dealers, which I agreed to. They didn't ring me at all throughout the time it was at the dealers, & next thing I know, the car is fixed but there's a bill of £213 from the dealers to pay.

Should the warranty cover this as it was the same as the previous fault?

I have a 1997 Buick Skylark Custom 4 door. It has 70,000 miles on it. I just bought it a couple weeks ago, and have tested this mileage on two full tanks of gas now. It only gets about 16mpg in the city. This just doesn't seem right for a 4 cylinder engine. My piece of crap 1994 Dodge Caravan gets 19 mpg in the city and that's a minivan with a horrible running 6 cylinder. So anyway, I talked to a mechanic briefly and he said that if something was wrong with it that the check engine light should be on. He also said it would cost $80 just to give it a diagnostic check or whatever. Any suggestions on what might be wrong with it or what I should do? Thanks!

My Car is Geo Prism 1997 1.6 L. The odometer is 129000. I had changed the Timing Belt when the odometer was 70000 miles (in Dec 2002). As per the geo service manual it should be done at every 60000 miles. So it is due for Timing Belt change now.
But my friends advised me that it need not be done at 60000, and can be wait upto 80000 miles which means I can wait till the odometer is 150000.
What harm can happen if the Timing Belt Breaks for Geo Prism? My friends have told me that for some cars, if the Timing Belt breaks, the car stops and no other harm happens to the engine and other parts while in some cars it can damage the engine (the valves of the engine bends so the engine has to be replaced)
Should I wait till the odometer is 150000?
