I've got wires close to my exhaust downpipe (the really hot part) on my car. Well how can I shield these wires from the heat? Is there some kind of heat tape I can wrap around?

it would be about cheaper to go and buy a good set of header wires they will with stand the heat from the engine,and the exhaust,and last a lot longer ,their not that expensive and do hold up very well,the wrap doesn't always last,and looks bad on them,good luck.

Parts stores or speed shops sell heat resistant tape or wrapping. It's usually best to tiestrap wires away from exhaust as much as possible.

Use the bent boots to keep them away from the exhaust.
You can buy silicone wires that will take much more heat than factory wires.
No wrap I can think of works.

Try some of that spiral wire wrap. I've seen it wrapped around wiring harnesses near hot engine areas. Contact your local parts store. Here is a photo:

aluminum duct work, you can buy it at home depot in the dryer vent section about $20.00 some handy work on your part will be required.
