Our friend has invented a spill proof bottle cap for a quart of motor oil, and we want him to market it to oil companies such as Pennzoil or Quaker State. I want to know what you think. Would you buy it? How much would you pay for a motor oil bottle with a spill proof cap? I need to convince him to push his idea forward... your input will help.

The cap will enable oil to be poured without the need of a funnel. Also, if you look at stats, millions of gallons of oil get wasted due to spills. The cap will not be sold separate, but on the bottle. It would replace the current style. It is designed to make changing/adding motor oil much easier. Especially for motors that have the oil shaft in a hard to reach place, the product will be great.
What are your thoughts? Will this have any benefit?

If I may interject; the benefit of a spool proof cap would create less harm for the environment. I have read in publications that 2 - 5% of the oil in a motor oil container goes wasted - either from spilling and missing the entry way or upon finishing the oil removing it from the entry way. If you are referring to a spout of some sort then yes I do believe your friend is on to something; especially given the oil manufacturers return to listening to consumers.

Where did you dudes find a can of motor oil? Most motor oil comes in a quart plastic bottle with a resealable cap. Not a brilliant idea, I've been buying the plastic bottles for over 15 years.

Motor oil already has a cap on the bottle for free. And with the cap, it is spill proof.
I don't understand the spill proof idea here, sorry.
