I recently replaced a timing belt on a car with a Goodyear timing belt, when I replaced it i didn't notice that the front oil seal was damaged. So upon starting the car, the brand new belt was bathed in fresh synthetic oil. It was about a week or so before I got around to taking it all back apart to remove and clean the belt and replace the damaged oil seal. Now I know that rubber normally gets swollen and damaged when it is oil contaminated, but everywhere I read I see that highly saturated nitrile is "highly resistant to oil contamination". Should I just scrub the belt off with some laundry detergent or dish soap and reuse it? or should I spend another 80 clams on yet another belt? Oh, and I should mention that it is an interference engine, and the first belt broke and left about 1200 dollars in damage.

I have a 1993 Toyota 4wd. It's been a great little truck and I use it for construction and hunting etc. The switch started getting dirty or worn a little while back and it had to be in just the right spot to make the blower motor (fan) come on. Well after wiggling it back a forth trying to get a connection it finally just stopped. It was summertime and of coarse the AC compressor was switched on and off in the process.

The heater and ac works off the same lever when you turn the fan slider on. I checked all of the main fuses in the fuse box and all are fine. I think the motor is fairly new. It seems like I replaced it once before.

I do have the schematic but am really unsure what I'm looking at and hope someone can direct me to the problem.

My question is, is there a relay that could have blown or another fuse somewhere else under the hood or dash or in the kicker panel?

My Renault Laguna estate (N reg. 2.0 petrol) is regularly goes overheated while driving slowly or idle. The fan won't cut in even the coolant in the tank is boiling. I've noticed that the radiator hose is not "very" hot.
And the heater in the car only goes a little warm.

Could that be the thermostat?
I tried to locate the thermostat but failed. seems it's under the air filter housing... Do I need to remove it to get the thermostat?

Thanks!

BTW there are coolant coming back to the tank so I guess the water pump is fine.

These past few months it has been taking me forever to get my car to start. I would turn the ignition but nothing happens. All my lights will come on and the doors will lock but car just will not start. I would have to keep turning the ignition and after a few min. it will finally start up. But, then theres times that I will get in and it will fire right up. These past 2 days have been crazy. Yesterday, I went to start it and got a half of a start and then it completely died on me and I couldn't get it restarted at all. I had somebody give me a jump and it was fine for the rest of the day. Then today the same thing happened. My friend gave me a jump, it started up then I tried to drive it and it would stall. We had to jump it 3x. The battery is only a year old and was told that couldn't be the alt. cause the car still ran when the cable was disconected and all my lights still come on. Does this sound like a bad starter? And why will it stall after it was jumped? My cars is a 96 t-bird.

i have a 94 nissan maxima 3.0 dohc that has a weird low rpm misfire. it seems to go away above 2000rpms.
when you disconnect the fuel injector the idle gets rougher.
but when connect back in the roughness goes away a lilttle bit.

but when you removed the coil (on top of sparkplug) the idle does'nt change.

the coil is fine. it sparks and my spark plug is black. and there seems to be a rich smell from the exhaust.....

anyone have any suggestions??

Whilst driving my car over 60 mph (1996 Nissan Maxima Aut.) I suddenly felt a drag as if I ran over some very strong adhesive. At my destrination I tried to back and it wouldn't move in reverse. I drove home and decided to back up in my drive way. I depressed the exal. and it back up with a jolt roughly. I tried other gears. It wouldn't move in 1st and 2nd gear. Then couple weeks after I tried it again. Now it will drive forward but with an effort as if somthing is wrong in the diff. or transmission. It hadn't run out of transmission oil and I never had this problem before. I once took out the radiator and had was to remove the hose that take the fluid to the transmission to cool it and some fluid drained out, but before I drove it I replaced the fluid and it was full. Can anyone tell me what's the problem, if it's transmission problem, do I have to replace the tran or is it a minor problem. Thanks.

I just bought Ford Taurus GL (1994) and started having a problem. At first, steam was coming out of hood and I took the car to Tunex, and they told that Water Pump needs to be replaced, they replaced it and at the same time they performed Emission Tests. The car passed the Emission Test, and when I was driving it back home, "Check Engine" light came on. What is it? Why is it showing this? Does it disappear? Any suggestions? Thank you.

I recently performed some dent repair work on my car which involved respraying a few sections.

At a distance of say 5-10 metres, it looks fine, but up close you can quite clearly see that the new paint is darker and therefore does not match. This is extremely annoying to me because I think people are staring at my car thinking how crap my paint job is.

As such, can anybody suggest a quick way to fade the paint that I could do over a weekend or so?

The only thought I had was giving it a very very light sand but you people might have a better method? It's a metallic pearlescent in a champagne colour.

Thanks!
