It sounds to me that the question you are asking is how much wieght do you need to take off the car to make it faster. In drag racing 100lbs. in mass is worth .1 seconds. That only applies to cars where raw horse power is a factor, like stock automobiles. The doesnt gain horse power, it changes power to wieght ratio. which makes it faster, however you can only loose so much wieght, then theres just not enough to take off to make it any faster.

Nothing. Horsepower is made in the engine. The weight (mass) only makes a difference when trying to move against inertia, like when accelerating - especially from a stop. The more power you have per ton, the faster you'll get up to speed. For example, I used to own a classic Mini with about 120hp. It doesn't sound like much - until you do the math. That's about 220hp per ton (the car weighed just over a half ton.) Compared to a normal car, it's like having almost 350hp in a Mustang. Not so shabby after all. And less weight also means being able to stop and turn better as well, since there's less momentum to deal with.

If you're trying to work out the equivalent power increase to match a weight increase (meaning that the car goes as if it had more power), then it depends on the percentage of weight removed. Taking 100 lb off a 2 ton car won't do all that much. Taking 100 lb off a 1 ton car is a whole other story!

you won't gain any hp, however on the 1/4 mile we use 0.1 secs quicker per 100 lb weight loss as an estimate. (for daily driver type cars 13-15 sec)

none. HP is gauged on the engine however you will lose HP thru the transmission (standard is less than automatic) As you go down the drive train is where HP loss is. If you are wondering how fast a car will go in a hole shot. A car that will weigh less will go faster in the short runs from the start to the short finish.

Don't keep junk food inside your kitchen. If it's not right now there, you can't be tempted by it.
